The Proscenio House is located on a steep property that sits between a heavily-trafficked road and one of the most dramatic views of Downtown Austin possible.  The house responds to this site as a series of thresholds that transition from the busy public edge to the spaciousness of the hillside vista.

The entry is through a grand, screened portal that shields the interior of the house from public view.  The portal is made of staggered travertine blocks with a long-span lintel that connects them.  At night, the blocks are lighted and become a glowing, textured pattern facing the street.  The portal is anchored by a circular concrete stair tower that leads down to the lower level of the house.  The opposite side of the house is mostly glass, and features terraces and a pool that cantilevers out over the hillside, making the most of the view.

Materials are rich, with stone, brass, and walnut the primary interior elements.
